The Wild Tiger Corps
The Wild Tiger Corps was established on 1 May 1911, based on 3 reasons: Nationalism, Religion Respect and Unity. The word "Wild Tiger" was used to call soldiers who would be sent ahead into the front line to search for the information. The meaning of Wild Tiger represented the great fighting animal.
The organization of the Wild Tiger Corps was divided into 2 units, the Royal
Wild Tiger Unit and Wild Tiger Territorial Defense Unit. The Royal Wild Tiger was located in Bangkok under the King's command. The Wild Tiger Territorial was located in four main regional areas (Center, North, South and East.) Each unit had its own Superintendent who was responsible for the operation of the Unit.
The Wild Tiger Corps was also divided in different brands of service such as infantry, cavalry, artillery, engineer, royal hunter, etc. Each brand had its own uniform.
The insignia of the Wild Tiger Corps was the pipe with the tiger head, with the words, "Dead is better than Dishonor." All the Wild Tigers would be trained with the same basic training and then in each military specialist. The Wild Tigers would often take the field training exercises in Nakhon Phathom and Ratchburi Provinces.
King Rama VI also gave the lectures and conposed songs which emphasised the spirit of loyalty to the Wild Tigers. The Wild Tiger Corps was ended after the death of His Majesty on 25 November 1925.
